Antique linen apron from Babcock & Underwood Hardware. Apron reads "Better tools do Better Work".
The business began on March 1, 1874, with the partnership of Carter, Porter and Johnson at 87 Washington St. In 1878, Burton M. Babcock bought Johnson’s share and Porter’s by 1880 to form Carter & Babcock.
Two years later, they moved to 174 Washington St., which would become home to the business for the next eight decades.
Apron is a part of NY history.
